Challenging a pre-nup in court can be complicated

In every divorce there are many complex divorce legal issues that must be addressed before the legal bond is finally terminated. In an effort to expedite the divorce process many high-asset couples choose to enter into prenuptial agreement prior to marriage. A prenuptial agreement establishes each party's financial rights in the event of divorce. In some cases, however, a prenuptial agreement can be thrown out if it is deemed invalid.

Legalities surrounding child custody for gays and lesbians

Michigan residents interested in equality and familiar with the challenges gays and lesbians face may be aware the U.S. Supreme Court is set to consider the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act soon. Family issues that a gay and lesbian couple may face are not different from what a straight couple faces. One issue which has surfaced on numerous occasions and, presents a challenge in the family law court system is the issue of child custody.

Actress Demi Moore seeking spousal support

Hollywood fans in Michigan may find it interesting to learn that according to reports nearly three months after Actor Ashton Kutcher, who was 2012's highest paid TV actor, filed for divorce, actress Demi Moore answered his divorce papers. She filed for dissolution of marriage as well and, is asking for spousal support from Kutcher who has an estimated income of approximately $24 million mainly due to his role in the TV show "Two and a Half Men". Both cited irreconcilable differences in their divorce papers.

Father fighting archaic Michigan law to see daughter

After years of court battles and lobbying Michigan lawmakers to change a 1956 Michigan statute which states that a woman's husband is legally presumed to be the father of his wife's children, a Michigan man who was prevented from seeing his biological daughter finally got a change to talk to her over the phone nearly three and a half years later.
